“Whoever Our Nominee Is, We Must All Hold Strong, Together”

If we’re judging the Democratic campaigns on the quality of the candidates’ presentation, debate performances, work ethic, and consistent message on issues and policy, Martin O’Malley should have been making a prime time speech last night. The fact that he wasn’t was largely set in stone when O’Malley and Bernie Sanders entered the race at the same time, and Sanders… Read more »

O’Malley Invited To Sunday Debate

It really shouldn’t have been a question, and it took far too long to resolve, but former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley has been invited by NBC to participate in the Sunday night debate in Charleston. NBC News invited all three Democratic presidential candidates to debate Sunday night in Charleston, S.C., including Martin O’Malley. There had been some doubt whether O’Malley would… Read more »

Oh Those Crazy Kids

In this case, the kids in Iowa. The Iowa Secretary of State organized a youth caucus earlier this week, and when they got a chance to express their opinions in the Democratic primary, they produced some surprising results. Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) prevailed, with nearly 53 percent support. In second place was former Maryland governor Martin O’Malley, with 24 percent…. Read more »

O’Malley: End Coming?

No glee here at all, but Martin O’Malley is running out of money. It’s too bad his solid debate performances didn’t come before Bernie Sanders’ meteoric rise, which sucked all the air out of the “not Hillary Clinton” camp. With barely 10 weeks before Democrats start picking their presidential nominee, former Maryland governor Martin O’Malley’s campaign is perilously close to financial… Read more »

O’Malley’s Night

I didn’t watch the debate - I’ve reached even my prodigious limit of political coverage, and I didn’t want to hear a lot of foreign policy pandering after Friday night - but there is strong evidence that Martin O’Malley won the night. He was aggressive, he made good points, and he wasn’t afraid to mix it up -politely, of course,… Read more »

CouchGate Is Over

If Larry Hogan is going to get any traction on his war with former Governor Martin O’Malley, he’s not getting any help from the office of Attorney General Brian Frosh. CouchGate, the manufactured flap over O’Malley’s purchase of nine year old furniture, failed to launch this week. The Maryland State Ethics Commission will not launch an inquiry related to former governor… Read more »

The Gloves Come Off

Larry Hogan is taking some free punches at former Governor Martin O’Malley, first over the furniture deal and now about O’Malley’s contract with a state vendor. While Comptroller Peter Franchot brought up the issue, it was Hogan who took the opportunity to pile on - again. It’s gonna get ugly. A key piece of former governor and presidential hopeful Martin O’Malley’s… Read more »

O’Malley On Wall Street

Martin O’Malley spent over an hour “trying to earn an honest buck” on Wall Street this week, strumming Woody Guthrie’s “This Land Is Your Land” in front of the New York Stock Exchange. In that time, he earned $1.74 in tips, plus a package of gummy bears. It’s a clever and funny concept executed well by O’Malley. Here’s the video.
