Joseline Peña-Melnyk Releases Fundraising Report Showing She is the Candidate to Watch in MD-04
Peña-Melnyk’s congressional campaign raised over half a million dollars in 2015 and is neck-and-neck with competitors in new poll

Laurel, MD – Today, Joseline Peña-Melnyk released her final fundraising report of 2015, reporting over $146,000 for the final quarter of 2015 bringing her congressional campaign raised total to $508,000 from 1,915 donors in her effort to represent Maryland’s 4th district. Peña-Melnyk’s campaign reported a little over $378,000 cash on hand as they enter the final months before the April Democratic primary.

“Now more than ever, we need tough progressive champions in Congress that will stand up for the rights of working people,” said Peña-Melnyk. “I’ve never backed down from a fight. In Congress, I will stand up to the big corporations and Republican extremists, and I will continue to fight for a more fair, more inclusive community for all of us.

Peña-Melnyk’s fundraising report comes days after a poll reported in the Maryland Scramble showed Peña-Melnyk in statistical dead heat with Anthony Brown and leading Glenn Ivey.

Campaign manager Mollie Binotto says the poll reflects the enthusiasm their campaign is seeing on the ground. “There is no question: Joseline is the toughest progressive fighter in this race,” said Binotto. “As a state legislator, she took on the NRA, fought to raise the minimum wage and secure equal pay for women – and in each case she delivered results. There’s a reason our supporters are the most decided in their support: they know Joseline is going to fight for them.”Peña-Melnyk has received broad-based support from local Maryland organizations, unions, and legislators, as well as heavy-hitting national endorsements from the Progressive Change Campaign Committee, the Sierra Club, and Democracy for America. Peña-Melnyk is also backed by the national PAC EMILY’s List, which will begin fundraising for her campaign in the first quarter of 2016.

“In fundraising and in the field, Joseline has the greatest potential in this race,” added Binotto. “From the thousands of voters we’ve spoken to at the doors, to the strong backing we’ve received from leading progressive groups, we have the momentum to energize the base and turn out voters for Joseline on April 26.”

Here’s the filed report. We’ll see how it stacks up as the other candidates’ reports come in between now and midnight.
