Jheanelle Wilkins was appointed today to the vacant D20 delegate seat by Governor Hogan – the last possible day for him to do so – and will be sworn in tomorrow morning in Annapolis.

Gov. Larry Hogan on Tuesday appointed Jheanelle Wilkins as the state delegate representing areas of Silver Spring and Takoma Park.

Wilkins is filling a vacancy created when former District 20 delegate Will Smith Jr. shifted to an open seat in the Maryland Senate. The Montgomery County Democratic Central Committee earlier this month chose Wilkins, one of its members, as Smith’s replacement and forwarded the recommendation to Hogan for a final decision.
