On Sunday, January 15, there will be a series of rallies around the country to focus attention on the looming demise of the Affordable Care Act. The Maryland version will be held at Bowie State University at 2:00, and lots of your favorite elected officials will be there. Your favorite blogger might even put in an appearance too.
Local Democratic leaders are planning a rally on Sunday at Bowie State University that is part of a national effort to preserve health care coverage for nearly 30 million people.
Organizers are calling the event “A National Day of Action” and rallies are planned all over the country that day.
The event is designed so that people can show their support for protecting health care and fighting to save the Affordable Care Act, as well opposing any cuts to Medicaid and Planned Parenthood.
The Maryland rally will be held in the ballroom of the Student Center on the campus of Bowie State University. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and the program will begin at 2 p.m.
Newly elected U.S. Sen. Chris Van Hollen is organizing the event, which is expected to include county executives Rushern Baker (Prince George’s) and Ike Leggett (Montgomery), as well as Reps. Steny Hoyer, Anthony Brown, John Sarbanes, Jamie Raskin and John Delaney.
