Kevin Gillogly alerts me to a new poll from Christopher Newport University in Virginia puts Clinton up 48-42, with polling completed yesterday, November 6.

Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton is leading Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump by six points in Virginia, 48 percent to 42 percent, according to a survey by the Wason Center for Public Policy at Christopher Newport University.

In earlier polls, Clinton was leading Trump by as many as 15 points, but Trump had fought back and cut the lead to just six points.
The poll shows Clinton having the support of 92 percent of Democrats, while Trump has the support of 82 percent of Republicans. Libertarian Gary Johnson now at three percent from a starting point of 15 percent in September.
“Any electoral victory has to begin with fundamentally solid party support,” said Dr. Quentin Kidd, Director of the Wason Center. “Clinton has that going into Election Day, and Trump continues to struggle with it.”
Women voters favor Clinton over Trump by 16 points, 53 percent to 37 percent. The poll also finds that voters between 18 and 34 years old prefer her over Trump, 56 percent to 33 percent.
However, white men back Trump over Clinton 62 percent to 29 percent. Overall, white voters favor Trump over Clinton 54 percent to 36 percent.
African-American voters support Clinton 89 percent to five percent.
Regionally, the poll finds Clinton’s strongest vote comes from Northern Virginia, 59 percent to 33 percent. Trump has a lead in the rural South-Southwestern part of the state, 56 percent to 34 percent.

You hear that sound? It’s the sound of doors slamming closed, one after the other, on Donald Trump’s presidential aspirations. And it’s getting louder.
