We are moments away from the polls closing in New Jersey and Hillary Clinton will be speaking to her supporters right across the river in Brooklyn at 10:00 p.m.
As I said in today’s preview, it is pretty obvious what she is going to say. She will declare victory, praise Bernie Sanders, and press the need for both herself and Sen. Sanders to help unify the party and defeat Donald Trump in November.
Whatever you may think of Hillary Clinton, when you really think about it, it is pretty amazing that eight years after electing the first African American president, the country will now witness the first woman to ever win a major party nomination. And she just so happens to be the favorite to become the first women president, though far from a sure thing.
When you consider for a second this country didn’t even count African Americans as whole human beings, condoned slavery, and did not allow women to vote at its inception, it is pretty remarkable to see just how far we have come.
It is rare to witness history happening right in front of your eyes. I think we should all sit back and appreciate it while we can.
