Kathleen Matthews hits both of her leading opponents in a new ad, as well as the accompanying press release:
New TV Spot For Kathleen Matthews
Calls For A Fresh Approach In Washington
In a new TV spot released today, Maryland’s 8th Congressional District candidate Kathleen Matthews urges Maryland Democrats to elect a fresh voice — someone who will fight for women and all working families — to stand up to the sexism and bigotry of Republican politicians and Presidential candidates Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.
In the spot, Matthews calls for a break from politics as usual, and strikes a contrast with two of her opponents. Senator Jamie Raskin has been criticized for exaggerating claims about his role in passing progressive legislation in Annapolis, and David Trone has spent more than $9 million of his personal wealth to win the seat.
“I know Maryland voters will reject the notion that congressional seats can be purchased like an expensive bottle of wine,” said Matthews.
“We need a Representative in the model of Chris Van Hollen – a progressive fighter who gets things done for our district. He doesn’t brag about his accomplishments. Instead he builds relationships with members of both parties, creates consensus, and advances priorities that are important to our region. And I am proud the Washington Post endorsed me as the candidate with the skills and broad public affairs experience in the Van Hollen model,” said Matthews.
