National Nurses United (NNU) completed a busy week of endorsements yesterday by endorsing Joseline Pena-Melnyk in CD4. Campaign press release:
National Nurses United Backs Joseline Peña-Melnyk for Congress
Today state Delegate Joseline Peña-Melnyk received a key endorsement in her campaign for Congress from National Nurses United. Founded in 2009, NNU has 185,000 members across the country and is the largest union and professional association of registered nurses the United States. NNU members are renowned as leading advocates of guaranteed healthcare by expanding and improving Medicare to cover all Americans, for negotiating many of the best collective bargaining contracts for RNs in the nation, and for sponsorship of innovative legislation and regulatory protections for patients and nurses.
“I am grateful for the support of National Nurses United. For nine years I have been fighting to broaden healthcare access and to end disparities in coverage for communities of color across Maryland. We need to make sure our healthcare system works for everyone, which is why I will fight for a Medicare for All healthcare system and support legislation for minimum nurse-to-patient ratios in US hospitals.” said Peña-Melnyk
“Nurses in Prince George’s, Anne Arundel, and across the state are standing with Joseline Peña-Melnyk because she supports mandatory, minimum nurse-to-patient ratios so that patients in hospitals in Maryland and the rest of the country receive optimal care,” said Rossy Nwachukwu, RN, a resident of Bowie, Md., and a member of National Nurses United. “Del. Peña-Melnyk has demonstrated a willingness to fight for economic and social justice in Annapolis and we’re confident she’ll carry that fight to the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington, DC.”
