Chris Van Hollen snuck into Prince George’s County today and was endorsed by Bowie’s mayor and its county Councilmember. From the Capital Gazette:
Bowie Mayor G. Frederick Robinson and County Council member Todd Turner (D-4th District) announced their endorsement Monday of U.S. Rep. Chris Van Hollen for Maryland’s soon-to-be open U.S. Senate seat.
Van Hollen spoke to 60 about people at a breakfast meeting in Bowie that included the mayor, members of the City Council and local judges.
“I’ve known Chris since he was in the state senate, said Robinson. “I’m impressed that you can talk to the guy and you come away from the conversation knowing that he listened to you. He may not agree with you all the time; sometimes the goals and objectives of people are more important than the politics involved. He understands that.”
Turner, whose district includes Bowie, also praised Van Hollen.
“I’ve seen someone who was kind of a workhorse,” said Turner. “He’s somebody who knows the place, has the relationships and can get the results. He’s shown that in Congress. He’s been bipartisan when he can be and he’s been a good Democrat.”
